Common use
Theo-24 Sr is an oral bronchodilator medication which used o treat symptoms of asthma, chronic bronchitis, and emphysema. Theophylline is a chemical cousin of caffeine, which relaxes muscles in the lungs and chest, and makes the lungs less sensitive to allergens and other causes of bronchospasm.
Dosage and direction
Take it orally with or without food/milk. Tablets should be swallowed whole with glass of water, not crushed or chewed. If you are taking them on a once-a-day basis, do not take the dose at bedtime.
The recommended starting dose for adults is one 150-milligram tablet every 12 hours. The maximum dose is 600 milligrams per day.
Dosage for children 6 to 16 years age will calculate based on the child’s body weight.

Precautions
Use The-24 with cautions if your medical history include hepatic disease, diabetes mellitus, hyperthyroidism, hypertension. Do not brink alcohol while you are taking this medication. If you are a smoker, your body will tend to process and get rid of Theo-24 Sr rather quickly; thus, you may need to take more frequent doses than a nonsmoker. Theo-24 Sr should not be used during pregnancy, becoming pregnant or lactating without doctor’s advice. Do not use this medication before breast-feeding without doctor’s advice.
Contraindications
The-24 is not allowed to people who are hypersensitive to any components of this medication. Do not take Theo-24 Sr if you have an active peptic ulcer or a seizure disorder such as epilepsy.
Possible side effect
They may include all types of an allergic reaction. Also the most possible side effects include:
seizure (convulsions);
worsening of your condition, or symptoms of new illness;
severe or ongoing nausea and vomiting, headache, fast or uneven heart rate, and trouble sleeping (insomnia);
coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds;
ongoing fever;
feeling restless, irritable, nervous, or jittery.
tremors;
urinating more than usual.
Less serious include:
mild nausea, loss of appetite, weight loss;
restlessness, tremor, or insomnia;
headache, lightheadedness, or dizziness.
If you experience one of them stop using Serevent and tell your doctor as soon as possible. Also consult with your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual.
Drug interaction
Theo-24 Sr interact with the following drugs: carbamazepine; cimetidine; enoxacin; ephedrine or similar medications found in cold medicine or diet pills; erythromycin; fluvoxamine; propranolol; rifampin; St. John’s wort; thiabendazole. Also note that interaction between two medications does not always mean that you must stop taking one of them. As usual it affects the the effect of drugs, so consult with your doctor about how it interactions are being managed or should be managed.
Missed dose
If you forgot to take your dose in time, please do it as soon as you remember. But do not take if it is too late or almost time for your next dose. Do not increase your recommended dose. Take your usually dose next day in the same regularly time.
Overdose
Symptoms of Theo-24 Sr may include nausea, restlessness, vomiting, tremors, uneven heartbeats, insomnia and seizure. If you experience one of them call your doctor immediately. Also seizures caused by a theophylline overdose can cause death or permanent brain damage.
Storage
Store at room temperature between 59-77 degrees F (15-25 degrees C) away from light and moisture, kids and pets. Do not use after expiration term.
