Desowen (Desonide) is a medication used to treat skin rashes and irritation. Desowen is a corticosteroid cream that acts by penetrating the skin and boosting the synthesis of inhibitory proteins known as lipocortins. Lipocortins work by inhibiting inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins, leukotrienes, and histamines. Desowen should be taken exactly as recommended by your doctor. Desowen is a medicine that is applied to the skin. Take not orally. This medicine is usually administered for a period of 2 to 4 weeks. Desowen should not be used in bigger or lower doses or for longer than recommended. Do not apply this medicine to a broad area of skin unless instructed to do so by your doctor. If your doctor instructs you to, do not cover the treated area with a bandage or other covers, since this might increase the quantity of medicine absorbed through your skin.
